Pretty impressed with the headset and sound, but footsteps are quieter than what I’m used to, hence the post. After some research I thought I’d give the Arctis 9x a go. I tried everything I could think of, but I was unable to get the sound back to what it was, so I thought I’d buy a new headset (hoping it’s not a fault with the xbox one X ). My previous headset, an old pdp afterglow prismatic Dolby 5.1, was excellent for footsteps and pinpointing their exact location, but last week I lost audio, Xbox crashed and upon restarting the sound was terrible, completely changed. Received this headset yesterday, having a play to try and get the optimum output for COD. Overall, it seems you cant pinpoint the footstep sound to a single setting, but I've noticed a significant improvement by changing the above around. My conclusion is the that the highest frequency sounds become very 'tingy' if you have them too loud, and the 'footsteps' in Modern Warfare are mostly in the 2k, 4k, 8k range.Īdditionally, Some of the loudest and most distracting (from footsteps) sounds come from the low frequency 'bassy' blasts that come from explosions. As well, looking at a variety of EQ setting videos for other games that take advantage of footsteps (PUBG, Fortnite, etc.). I have been messing around with the settings myself - thanks to the live preview feature. Footsteps are most commonly associated with higher frequencies (though I have read some conflicting info) (ex- 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k).So, to find someone that specifically is looking for my narrow purpose has been hard. Everyone has their own preferences (for a variety of reasons). But, have pretty much gathered the following: I am most interested in maximizing the sound of footsteps, and would like to know if there is specific 'sliders' that I should be adjusting?.I already have the music and commentator volumes muted in game, as I don't have any interest in them.I have the latest version of SteelSeries Engine 3 on my computer.I have Dolby Atmos setting turned on on my Xbox One.Here are some details that may be relevant: I really only use the headset to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on my Xbox One, and am hoping that someone can help me in understanding the best way to optimize the sound for my purpose.Ĭan anyone give me some tips on how to best hear footsteps in COD? I'm new to my Arctis 9x headset and have never owned a headset where I manually adjust the EQ.
